Unveiling the full power of her low, brooding voice Anna Calvi’s thunderous new single ‘Desire’ has been given an equally dramatic, haunting video. Directed by Aoife McArdle, the video sees the dark romantic pop chanteuse channel her more gothic influences while crooning over swelling eerie accordion sounds, sparse percussion and deep textured instrumentals.
Taken from her eponymous debut, ‘Desire’ is available now digitally and on 7” backed with her own virtuosic instrumental of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Joan Of Arc’ which you can stream below.
Anna Calvi will be playing festivals throughout the summer and will return in November for a full UK tour but ahead of all that she will be performing 5 tracks ‘Live From Abbey Road’ tonight on Channel 4 at 11.50pm.
