Watch Algiers play "Black Eunuch", "Remains" and "Blood" in haunting new session
Soul-punk outfit Algiers rocked out three tracks in a new session for Deezer which you can watch now.
The tracks, "Black Eunuch", "Blood" and "Remains", are delivered with ferocious vigour, and act as rallying cries that blur the borders of post-punk, gospel, experimental rock and swampy blues.
We interviewed the band recently, and frontman Franklin James Fisher said of the album:
“We found it necessary to create our own political language, and everything that we do is a part of that, from the lyrics that we have to the images and references that we engage with on our social media, to the type of musical references we pull from... it's something that's necessary for our own sanity. We never thought we were gonna get anywhere close to the point we're at, in terms of recognition, or even modest success. It was just something we were doing because we knew we had to do it.”
The band's debut self-titled album is out now on Matador.
