Watch a clip of Jamie xx-scored ballet Tree Of Codes from Manchester International Festival
You can now watch footage from Tree of Codes, the Jamie xx-scored ballet that had its world premiere at the recent Manchester International Festival.
The ballet is based on the book/artwork Tree of Codes by Jonathan Safran Foer, and is performed by dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet and Company Wayne McGregor. It has been choreographed by Wayne McGregor, and is performed in an environment designed by visual artist Olafur Eliasson.
A blurb on YouTube provides some more insight into the performance and the story: "Safran Foer’s novel is literally carved from the text of Bruno Schulz’ Street of Crocodiles; words and phrases are cut from the pages to produce an entirely different story. The creative team has worked together over the last two years to make a contemporary ballet that responds to this remarkable and beautiful artwork."
Jamie xx released his long-awaited debut album In Colour last month to rapturous applause.
