The editor and deputy editor of New York arts and culture newspaper The Village Voice have reportedly walked out after the company’s heads instructed them to fire five members of staff.
Will Bourne and Jessica Lustig, who had only been in their roles since November and January respectively, were yesterday asked to cut their senior writing team by a quarter. Refusing to do so, the pair are said to have “resigned and left immediately”.
Owners Voice Media Group have released a statement saying that they would be “instituting further structural and staffing changes at the publication”.
