Vic Mensa has returned with his political new song "SHELTER", which sees him unite with Chance The Rapper and Wyclef Jean.

"SHELTER" is Vic Mensa's first release since last year's V TAPE, and sees Vic Mensa rap about the recent social unrest in the US, while also mentioning the police killings of Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile, and Elijah McClain.

Vic Mensa also advocates for Oklahoma death row inmate Julius Jones in the song, which sees Chance The Rapper rap about Breonna Taylor's boyfriend Kenneth Walker and Philando Castile, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop by police officer in 2016.

According to Complex, Vic Mensa said of the song, ""Shelter" is a spiritual note, a healing frequency… It was inspired not by Hollywood or Paris, but by what’s going on on the ground - in the real world, with the real people."

Wyclef Jean added, "The journey of this song was so important. It’s very crucial we, as musicians, use our voice to represent those who are not so easily able to be heard."

Vic Mensa's "SHELTER" song featuring Wyclef Jean and Chance The Rapper is out now.
