US vinyl just experienced its best sales week in history
Vinyl sales in the US just passed another milestone by selling the most vinyl records in history in a single week.
As Billboard notes, US vinyl album sales experienced their biggest week ever, with more than 1.8million LPs sold in the week ending 24 December.
The data comes from Nielsen Music/MRC Data, and marks the biggest week for vinyl sales in the US since Nielsen Music/MRC Data began tracking music sales in 1991.
Last week's vinyl album sales in the US broke a record set just one week earlier on 17 December, which saw over 1.4 million vinyl LPs sold in the US.
Billboard also reports that vinyl album sales exceeded CD sales in the same week for the fourth time since 1991 (which all took place in 2020), with CD sales at just over 1.6million.
