Unreleased Aphex Twin album Caustic Window raises $67,000 on Kickstarter
Last month, the test pressing of an unreleased Aphex Twin album dating back to 1994 found its way onto internet marketplace Discogs, with Richard D. James himself striking a deal with the sellers to release the album democratically to fans. Now, over $67,000 has been raised for the release via Kickstarter.
The physical copy of Caustic Window will be sold to the highest bidder on Ebay, with $67,424 pledged by 4,115 people to buy a digital download of the record for $16 each. The money raised from the Ebay sale will be split equally between Aphex Twin’s label, those who purchased a download of the album and a charity organisation to be confirmed.
The original Kickstarter goal was $9,300. See more info here.
