Unheard Elliott Smith music to feature on Heaven Adores You soundtrack
A documentary film about the late Elliott Smith is finalising plans to release a soundtrack; featuring over twelve previously unheard songs that could be set to appear. The film, Heaven Adores You, focuses on Smith's struggles, leading to his death in 2003, aged just 34.
Producer Kevin Moyer says: "Right now my track list is 20 Elliott songs from the film with only around four or five having been previously released. I spent a lot of time on the song selection and sequence order so that it is hopefully a balance between rough and polished works, early and late career compositions, instrumental and vocals both, and trying to make sure that we showed his evolution as an artist too, but also retaining the story that the film presents as well as making sure that the soundtrack has a good flow and is an enjoyable listen.”
No release dates have been confirmed although Moyer added that: “We are still finishing it all up, but I know that the label plans to make an announcement in the upcoming weeks that will reveal the release date and also the full track list too.”
There is still one last chance to catch a screening of Heaven Adores You in the UK. The film is being screened at the Prince Charles Cinema, London on 3 November.
