Ty Segall has shared a new track called "Alta"
With just one album under his belt so far this year, it's been something of a slow 12 months for Ty Segall... or so we thought. The prolific master of psych rock is back with a brand new single in tow.
You can get "Alta" now from Bandcamp.
If you caught Ty Segall live over the summer months, chances are the new song will be familiar. Premiered on Lauren Laverne's BBC Radio 6 Music show today, "Alta" is Ty Segall and The Freedom Band (Emmett Kelly, Mikal Cronin, Charles Moothart, and Ben Boye) at their most refined.
Building from an intimate vocal led introduction through ever so searing guitar riffs and dream tinged synth to the whole world that lies beyond, this “screw the last 500 years jam” is as every bit as brazen and as enthralling as Segall has ever been. It was recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago.
Could this spell a new record to come before the year's out? That, we'll have to wait and see. For now, "Alta" offers as much opportunity for exploration as you could hope to find.
