Twin Shadow’s new video At My Heels has had it’s online premier, and been given the unusual treatment of a director’s commentary. The auteurs behind the video go into great depth explaining the meaning behind such symbolic motifs as ‘the blue ladder’, ‘the green face’, and most excitingly – previously unseen footage of the much hyped, but rarely seen ‘blogosphere’.
Within a medium in which it’s all too easy to take oneself a tad too seriously, the release of this video from 4AD is a refreshing touch of self-referential humour. The video pokes gentle fun at the often overly cerebral genre, without undermining the musical prowess of Twin Shadow, or as he has been called (according to the directors) ‘The Mexican Morrisey” and “The Bangladeshi Bowie”.
The majestic Siberian tiger alone is enough to send this video viral, and as the press release explains: “to paraphrase Elvis, who shared our fondness for tigers, ’10,000,000 blogs can’t be wrong’.
