Tupac's mother personally approved Icona Pop track 'Girlfriend'
Icona Pop recently released the video for new single ‘Girlfriend’, a song that pays homage to 2Pac’s original track ‘Me & My Girlfriend’. Now it turns out that the electro pair wrote a letter to the mother of the late rapper asking for her permission to use the number.
“We were sitting in the studio talking about… we just have each other and that’s all we need in this life…” the duo told Page 31. “So we sent a letter to Tupac’s mother to ask if we could use the song, and she said yes.”
The Swedish twopiece’s long-awaited full-length, This is… Icona Pop will drop on 24 September in the States and 7 October in the UK, following on from the huge success of recent UK number one single ‘I Love It’.
