Isohunt, the search engine portal for file-sharing program BitTorrent, will close in the next week following a lawsuit by the MPAA (Motion Pictures Association of America).
As The Guardian notes, it’s seemingly the final chapter in a long-running battle between the pair which dates back to February 2006. The MPAA have been accusing the site of wide-scale copyright infringement ever since.
Now, an agreement between the two camps means that Isohunt will be shut down by 23 October, whilst also forced to pay $110 million in compensation.
Isohunt have agreed not to appeal the decision, although an older appeal to the Supreme Court is still pending.
