Ticketmaster to launch online exchange service
Ticketmaster are set to launch a service which allows customers to exchange gig tickets with others for no extra fee.
The online service, only available in the U.S at first, will be dubbed the ‘Ticket Transfer’ system and is an attempt by the company to curb fraud and touting.
Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation Entertainment, said in a statement:
“As the industry leader, Ticketmaster continues to introduce transformational products that revolutionise the fan and client experience.”
The service will use a digitalising system which means that the barcodes of exchanged tickets will become invalid and replaced online, meaning that even physical tickets can be transferred.
It’s not yet known when the system will launch.
