Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich pull music from Spotify
Both Atoms for Peace’s Amok and Thom Yorke’s solo album The Eraser have been removed from Spotify. The move is an apparent stance against how little artists stand to actually benefit from such a streaming service.
Producer Nigel Godrich took to Twitter an hour ago saying, “Someone gotta say something. It’s bad for new music..”
While Godrich announced it as a ‘small meaningless rebellion,’ he also said this:
The reason is that new artists get paid fuck all with this model.. It’s an equation that just doesn’t work
— nigel godrich (@nigelgod) July 14, 2013
The music industry is being taken over by the back door.. and if we don’t try and make it fair for new music producers and artists…

..then the art will suffer. Make no mistake. These are all the same old industry bods trying to get a stranglehold on the delivery system..

Godrich also pulled all material from his other project, Ultraísta. Meanwhile, Radiohead’s back catalog, with the exception of In Rainbows (which does stream elsewhere) and inclusion of 2011′s King of Limbs, remains available to stream on Spotify.
