The War On Drugs announce extended 'cassette' edition of Slave Ambient
Those familar with The War On Drugs‘ work – past or present – will be more than aware that lurking underneath the glorious melodies and soaring guitar lines hides a whole other world of noise and texture. We talk a bit about that here. The interloping personalities of the avant-garde experimentation and the straight-forward song structure is one of the many reasons that make this band such a special entity. Interesting then, that TWOD’s label Secretly Canadian have partnered with South Carolina’s Mirror Universe to release a limited-run extended edition of Slave Ambient.
Side A features the entire record as we know (and love) it, while Side B is 40-minutes of Adam Granduciel’s (pictured) sound sculptures, tape manipulation and ambient experimentation.
There’s no order link for the cassette quite yet, but we’ll update this post just as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, head over to the Secretly Canadian store to pick up your copy of Slave Ambient. See why you need it in your life by listening to the two tracks below.
