The Staves drop "Steady", push new album If I Was back to March
The Staves have just unveiled a brand new track called "Steady", as well as announcing that their new Justin Vernon-produced record If I Was has been pushed back to 23 March from its original 2 February date.
The new track features some Staves staples like heart-piercing harmonies and nature-infused lyrics - "Rabbit in a snare, why you sleeping softly in your bed?/why you running scared?" - but also some fascinating new motifs like skittering snares, Everything Everything riffs, slinky bass licks, and dynamic crescendos. The balance between textures and volumes is trod finely in this frosty cut as we see the sisters embark on an atmospheric journey.
If I Was will now be released 23 March via Atlantic. You can check out their tour dates and ticket details here.
