The National and Suede to head up Latitude 2011
The National, Suede and Paulo Nutini have been announced as main stage headliners for this year’s Latitude Festival.
The news – which leaked online early this evening – was confirmed at a press conference moments ago at The Hospital Club in London. The three headliners join Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Foals, Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan, Bright Eyes, Chapel Club, Caribou, Edwyn Collins, The Vaccines, My Morning Jacket, Paloma Faith and Esben & the Witch.
A fourth headliner is yet to be confirmed and will play the midday slot on Sunday. Joanna Newsom, Thom Yorke and Tom Jones have previously held this honour.
Also confirmed at tonight’s press conference:
- A new area – “Walk on the Wild Side” – will be set up for young teenagers.
- A second bridge will also be added to the festival site – where Latitude has committed to run for the next fifteen years – to avoid last year’s gridlock.
- Sound of Rum‘s Kate Tempest will premiere her first ever play at the festival.
- Phil Jupitus, Jason Byrne, Greg Davies and Josh Widdicombe will join Omid Djalili to head up the comedy bill
- Attitude is Everything – a charity who improves deaf and disabled people’s access to live music by working in partnership with audiences, artists and the music industry to implement a Charter of Best Practice across the UK – is also working with the festival again to improve accessibility.
Latitude 2011 takes place on 14-17 July in Henman Park, Southwold, Suffolk. Tickets are on sale from 7PM tonight via See Tickets.
