The Lexington launch crowdfunder to save venue from permanent closure after pandemic
London's The Lexington venue and pub have launched a crowdfunder to raise money that will save the place from closing permanently after the coronavirus pandemic.
The Lexington has been home to Best Fit's annual new music showcase the Five Day Forecast, and the monthly Pop Never Dies clubnight.
Last month, the venue announced it was closing "indefinitely" to adhere to the lockdown measures in the UK. Despite closing, The Lexington still has to pay its staff and the rent, and in a new Instagram post, the venue has expressed that there's a possibility they may not reopen after the pandemic unless they raise some money to help with their bills.
They write, "We're committed to paying our staff in full for as long as possible but due to rent and this top up for staff it's costing us £25k a month to keep our doors shut and there is a very real danger that we wont be able to reopen them without some support."

The London pub and music venue has launched a crowdfunder to help raise money. They're looking to reach a target of £25,000. They explain in the description, "Our commitment to our staff is our top priority but as we have received no relief on rent, are ineligible for government grants and have received absolutely no compensation from our insurers, we face a very real threat of permanent closure within only a few short months."
Those that donate can access donation rewards depending on the amount. There's Black Cards up for grabs, which give customers 10% off drinks at The Lexington for life, unlimited gigs for a year, and more.
