The Cure to headline Bestival 2016
The Cure and Major Lazer have been announced as Bestival 2016's first headliners.
Hot Chip, Animal Collective, Skepta, Bastille, Skream, Ride, Aurora, Ghostpoet, Craig David's TS5, Petite Meller, Damien Marley, Jagwar Ma, Bicep, Wolf Alice, Krept & Konan, Wolf Alice, Years & Years, Beaty Heart, Katy B, Loyle Carner, MØ, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, Wiley, Section Boyz, Chip, Big Narstie, and more have also been added.
This year's theme has also been confirmed - The Future.
Speaking about the first wave of acts, organiser Rob Da Bank says: “So, here we go again, but this time we’re going far… far away… into the future. Prepare yourselves for a Bestival unlike any other with futuristic new stages, and as ever it’s a broad church of music from every decade and every genre. Saturday night headliners and one of my favourite bands ever, The Cure, played Bestival five years ago and almost had to be dragged off stage after a three-hour mammoth greatest hits set. Robert Smith popped down last year and we shook hands on it all happening again… bring it on!"
Smith says of his headline slot: “We are very very happy to be back at our favourite festival. We can’t wait to play a special set to show the future IS what it used to be…”
Bestival 2016 takes place 8-11 September at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight. Tickets are on sale now.
