The Black feature ex-members of Voxtrot and Trail of Dead…
So this appeared in my inbox yesterday, and I’ve only now had a chance to play it. The Black are a band that feature some old faces. They’ve been going since 2002, but seem to have avoided my radar. Like David Longoria on guitar and vocals (formerly of …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead), Matt Simon on drums (formerly of Voxtrot), Jason Chronis on bass (formerly of Voxtrot), and Alan Schaefer on guitar (son of famous guitar maker Ed Schaefer).
They’ve released their new album Sun in the Day Moon at Night this week in the US, and it sounds completely the opposite to what you might think. This is the sound of rockabilly, blues, swamp, and folk songs all mixed together in a pot of pop.
You can download the track ‘Love Don’t Need A Reason’ here, and see what you think…
