The Besnard Lakes soundtrack “Welcome to Pine Point”
The Besnard Lakes have provided music for a new Interactive documentary collaboration between The Goggles (Paul Shoebridge and Mike Simons) and the National Film Board Of Canada.
The project was inspired Michael Simons childhood trip to Pine Point, a mining town in Canada’s Northwest Territories, and his discovery years later that the town has been completely torn down and dismantled. The film looks at ideas of memory and community for a town that has been erased from the face of the earth, and at those determined to keep memories of the town alive.
The film is a powerful, moving and thought-provoking piece of work, and well worth putting aside some of your time to investigate and interact with.
