The Anchoress launches podcast tackling loss
Welsh multi-instrumentalist Catherine Anne Davies - better known as The Anchoress - has launched a new podcast that takes on the topic of loss in all its literal and metaphorical forms - from lost albums and marriages to baby loss, lost possessions, and the death of loved ones.
Named after a line from the Elizabeth Bishop poem “One Art”, the podcast sees Davies in conversation with a series of special guests, probing the question, ”what do we gain from losing?”
The first episode launched to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week 2019 and explores two very personal journeys of stillbirth and miscarriage with guest Sophie Daniels talking about the loss of her daughter Liberty and exploring the taboos surrounding baby loss.
Forthcoming episodes include Grammy award winning producer and engineer Mario McNulty, talking about his experience of making the “lost” David Bowie and Harry Nilsson albums, Welsh poet and playwright Patrick Jones (brother of Manic Street Preacher Nicky Wire) on the poetry of grief, and journalist Kat Lister on becoming a young widow.
The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or to stream at theartoflosing.libsyn.com. As The Anchoress, Davies plays a sold-out show on 8 November at St. Pancras Old Church in London.
