Thai musician arrested for performing one of his own songs
A popular musician in Thailand has reportedly been arrested after not having permission to perform one of his own tracks.
The singer, Montchai Raksachart (pictured above), recently parted ways with publishers GMM Music Publishing International, who own the copyright to a variety of his most famous hits.
The Pattaya Mail report that a stipulation of this separation was that Raksachart could no longer perform the songs in question in public.
When the performer supposedly broke the agreement at a gig on 1 February, the company’s Prasith Prasertkittikul escorted local police to the venue to arrest the 45 year old singer.
CMU suggest that the performer is now back in negotiations with GMM to re-sign to the label.
