Sydney Sweeney and Julia Garner reportedly auditioned for Madonna biopic
According to reports, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney and Ozark's Julia Garner are among those that have auditioned for Madonna's upcoming biopic.
Back in 2020 Madonna started teasing her upcoming biopic, which she will direct. The biopic is set to be produced by Amy Pascal (Little Women, The Post, Spider-Man: Homecoming), and she's been co-writing the script with Diablo Cody.
In October last year Madonna revealed the biopic script was "almost finished", and just last month she spoke about the auditions, calling it a "surreal experience".
According to a new report from The Ankler, Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney and Barbie Ferreira have auditioned for the biopic, as well as Emmy winner Julia Garner (Ozark, Inventing Anna).
The report also states that Madonna originally had Florence Pugh in mind for the main role, but the team are holding more auditions to see if they can find someone to pull off a "bad girl" attitude.
Back in October last year, Madonna spoke to Maluma about reliving her experiences while writing the script, and said, "Writing my script is the most draining, challenging experience I’ve ever had. It’s kind of like psychotherapy in a way, because I have to remember every detail from my childhood till now. Remembering all the things that made me decide to be who I am, my journey as an artist, my decision to leave Michigan to go to New York, all the things that happened to me when I was young and naive, my relationships with my family and friends, watching many of my friends die - sometimes, I have writing sessions where I go to bed and I just want to cry. You know what I mean? The thing is, I realise I forgot a lot of things, and reliving, digging deep, trying to recall emotions that I felt in certain moments, both joyful and traumatic experiences . . . I realise I’ve lived a crazy life."
