Supersonic Festival countdown begins
The mighty, arty, noisy, experimental, genre-bending delight that is Supersonic is now into its 9th year. Once again based at the Custard Factory in Birmingham (a fittingly industrial-slash-creative setting of converted factory warehouses and art galleries), this year’s line-up once again looks likely to contain much to delight, confront, challenge and hopefully inspire.
The festival have just confirmed enigmatic cult legends Silver Apples, joining the likes of Wolves in the Throne Room, Drum Eyes, astonishing Jap-noise-niks Envy, and Alexander Tucker performing his ‘Dorwytch Cycle’. What is always particularly great about Supersonic, though, is the parallel programme of special events (like the Supersonic Kids’ Gigs or the SOUNDkitchen residency) and workshops on creative fields like screenprinting, lo-fi/guerrilla film making, and more. There’s also a range of films showing throughout the weekend, and “special performances” from Fire! and Ore.
This year’s Supersonic runs from 21 to 23 October 2011. For the full line-up and all details of the workshops etc, visit their website.
