Sub Pop fanzines to be published in anthology collection
It’s well known that Seattle’s iconic Sub Pop label started as a ‘zine, what is lesser-known is what those actual fanzine were like. Good thing then that the imprint are bringing out a new anthology to mark their 25th anniversary year.
The SUB POP U.S.A.: The Subterranean Pop Music Anthology, 1980-1988 collection, as the title suggests, compiles issues 1-9, as well as co-founder Bruce Pavitt’s ‘Sub Pop’ column for Seattle’s The Rocket newspaper.
The collection works as a good insight tool to ’80s alternative rock, as well as the seeds for what will later become the Grunge scene.
