Sturgill Simpson announces new album and anime film
Sturgill Simpson has announced his new album which will accompany his new anime film Sound & Fury.
Simpson's forthcoming album takes the same name as his new film.
The Grammy Award-winning musician revealed news of his new record and film over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, where he also unveiled the first trailer for his movie.
Speaking about his new project, Simpson said, "We went in without any preconceived notions and came out with a really sleazy, steamy rock n roll record. It’s definitely my most psychedelic. And also my heaviest. I had this idea that it’d be really cool to animate some of these songs, and we ended up with a futuristic, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, samurai film."
Sound & Fury will be Simpson's first album since 2016's A Sailor’s Guide To Earth.
The upcoming film was made in collaboration with manga artist Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) and filmmaker Junpei Mizusaki (Batman Ninja).
Last month, Simpson shared new track "The Dead Don't Die", which is the title song for Jim Jarmusch’s new zombie movie of the same name.
