Stream: The Horrors third album 'Skying'
When Shoreditch Goth-rock survivors The Horrors released their brilliant second album Primary Colours back in 2009, it blew everyone away- critics, cynics and even fans alike. Gone was the crass sounding organ, dropped were the manic yelps of Faris Rotter and, with the help of Portishead’s Geoff Barlow, the band unearthed vast supplies of inner potential to release a record of shoegazing delight. Yes, they still wore a lot of black but they now make music that sounded like getting sunstroke on a Saturday in July rather than as if you had been transported to a Victorian-era carnival afterdark.
After a two year gap, the band’s third full-length is written and ready for its eagerly-anticipated release, dropping next week on July 11. But if you can’t wait that long, stream below to listen to Skying in its entirety. On first listen the record is equally as great as its predecessor, just this time sounding more a bit more like Echo and the Bunnymen than My Bloody Valentine.
