Ahhh – more goodness from the Big Scary Monsters stable! This time, in the shape of Tall Ships, who are allowing us to stream their entire EP for your aural pleasure!
This is surprisingly ace and classy stuff for a debut and a slight change of attack for BSM. There’s LOUD keyboards, there’s gentle melodies and heart-wrenching lyrics. Opening track ‘Books’ is a beautiful slice of pop music, a song of lost love set in the confines of a giant library, wondering around the acres of books trying to forget the pain of losing something close. ‘Words Are Pegs Upon Which We Hang Ideas’ is the sound of The Books if they’d listened to more guitar bands, wonderful 50′s public announcements are woven into chiming guitars and upbeat, bouncing rhythms.
