Back in November 2019, Liam Gallagher announced he was headlining both festivals ahead of the organisers.
The festivals are also facing criticism online due to the lack of female performers on the 2020 lineup so far. Reading and Leeds have only hosted a few female headliners since its first year in 1961 - Patti Smith in 1978, Björk in 1995, and Paramore's Leeds headline slot in 2014.
Someone does this every year so here it is. The reading and Leeds 2020 lineup with ONLY female singers / bands (even if it’s just one member) pic.twitter.com/zzvjXpDXIu

49 men to 7 women on the Reading and Leeds announcement. Who allowed this? There are so many good female fronted acts out there now there’s really no excuse. #RandL19
