Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks announce new album, Wig Out at Jagbags
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks are preparing to release their sixth album, a record that means the group surpass the number that their frontman’s former band Pavement ever released.
Talking to Pitchfork recently, Malkmus revealed that the LP, and follow-to 2011′s Mirror Traffic, will be named Wig Out at Jagbags. The album originally went by the working titles of both Morrissey’s Trainwrecked Daughter and New Yoga for Cleavage Hounds.
“For this album I made melodies that just get in your head a little more annoyingly, or pleasingly,” the singer said of the full-length. “It’s not coffee-shop music, though. I hate that.”
Although no firm due date has been given for the release, it has been revealed that Malkmus and co will preview album tracks during their upcoming tour in January.
