SPIN Magazine lay off staff, cancel upcoming issue
SPIN Magazine have announced they have been forced to lay off numerous staff members, cancelling an upcoming issue in the process.
The November/December issue has been confirmed to be dropped in the aftermath of the publication’s recent buy-out by Buzzmedia.
The New York Times have also reported that 11 members of staff (1/3 of all employees) will lose their jobs. These include Editor-In-Chief Steve Kandell.
Despite this, the September/October issue will still go ahead and hit the shelves in August.
A statement from Buzzmedia reads as follows:
“Buzzmedia and Spin are committed to moving forward with print, but we are still determining exactly how print fits in with Spin’s multiple distribution points and growth initiatives.”
