Speech Debelle reveals "The Work", the first song from her upcoming third album

The track is Debelle's first since 2012 offering Freedom Of Speech, her follow up to Mercury Prize-winning debut Speech Therapy, and is the first taste of upcoming third LP Tantil Before I Breathe.

Merging melancholy melodies and firm beats, "The Work" is heartbreaking in moments but ultimately uplifting. It's not all sunbeams or beaming smiles or Hollywood endings, but when those rousing strings swoon against Debelle's earnest words, there's immense strength, and it's a testament to personal power and the human spirit.

Debelle says the track addresses "having some sort of awakening in whatever form that may come in; whether it’s about who you’re around, what you want to change in your life, or having some sort of a breakdown. Which I had - which was the unravelling."

The track was co-written with Neil Cowley (Adele, Emeli Sandé), who also plays piano on the track, and is produced by Nick Trepka.

Tantil Before I Breathe is expected later this year.
