Sound City win grant to expand into South Korea with Seoul's Zandari Festival
Sound City have announced they've won a grant to expand their overseas business and live music activity under the International Showcasing Scheme funded by The British Council and Arts Council England.
Sound City will be working with Zandari Festival in Seoul, offering funding for English artists to take part in the event, and developing international business content.
Taking place in October, Zandari is the biggest city centre event of its kind in South Korea, opening a gateway to the newest and most exciting music.
"This is a very exciting partnership with Sound City," Zandari Festival Director Yoon-Young Kong enthuses. "It allows us to build a wider international audience for our festival and conference. We have worked with Sound City for the past three years sending artists to their world-class event in Liverpool. It is fantastic that we are now able to work on both sides in a wider and more strategic manner."
"South Korea is a very exciting emerging music market," Sound City SEO David Pichilingi adds. "We have worked with Yoon and Zandari for several years. This kind of initiative will now allow us to put together a firm partner deal that will allow us to expand our international reach as a brand as well as for all the artists and businesses we work with."
Artists wanting to apply to perform at Zandari and Sound City are being asked to email hello@liverpoolsoundcity.co.uk by 6pm on 24 August with the subject line ‘Sound City Korea’, including links to streamed music, a 100-word biography, recent activity/coverage, and an outline of demand for their music outside the UK.
