Sónar festival changes venue for first time in 19 years
Barcelona’s Sónar festival has changed its daytime venue for the first time in almost two decades.
The Spanish festival, which is split between Sonar-by-Day and Sonar-by-Night and hosted in two different settings, has shifted its location during the day to the Fira Montjuïc at Plaça d’Espanya.
While many are upset with this move, stating that the original venue in the city’s Museu d’Art Contemporani (MACBA) was what made the festival unique, this new setting is a 10 min journey nearer to the nighttime venue.
Sonar have also unveiled a flurry of new acts confirmed, including TNGHT, Matthew Herbert, Major Lazer, Soulwax, Raime and Justice.
Already announced for the fest so far are Skrillex, Gold Panda, Liars, Nicolas Jaar Darkstar, Delorean, Mykki Blanco and Pinch, as well as electronic pioneers Kraftwerk. It takes place between 13-15 June.
