Solange to release new album on Sony by year's end
Solange will release her eagerly-awaited third album during 2013, it’s been revealed.
Following on from dropping a new single with Kendrick Lamar earlier today, it’s now been confirmed that Ms Knowles has also gone and signed to Sony, where she has started an offshoot label of her own called Saint Records. Billboard suggest that a LP will come out on the major label by the end of the year.
Many will see the release as a debut of sorts, since Solange’s artistic rebirth via 2012′s True EP – released on Terrible Records. The new release in expected to lift a handful of tracks from that very short-player.
As Pitchfork point out, a possible reason for the decision could be to join popstar sister Beyonce over on Sony – with Bey on Sony-owned Columbia. Before a new album drops, however, you can stream the video to the track that relaunched Solange’s career, ‘Losing You’, below:
