Soccer Mommy and Jay Som cover each other's songs for new single series
Soccer Mommy has launched her new single series, and for the first release she and Jay Som have covered each other's songs.
Jay Som has taken on Soccer Mommy's "lucy" track, while Soccer Mommy has covered Jay Som's "I Think You’re Alright".
The covers are released as part of the Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series on Bandcamp.
Jay Som says of her cover, "I had an extremely fun time recording the "lucy" cover. Sophie has such a special way of entwining catchy melodies and sometimes dark chord progressions. I feel very lucky to be a part of this comp!"
Soccer Mommy adds, "I’m super excited to kick things off with this Jay Som collab because Melina really made such an awesome new version of "lucy". I have also always loved her song "I Think You’re Alright", so it was great to get a chance to cover it. It has such a sweet tenderness to it that just makes you feel warm inside."
All proceeds made from the Bandcamp sales will be donated to Oxfam’s COVID-19 relief fund.
The singles series will also include contributions from MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden, Beabadoobee and Beach Bunny, and a new one will be released every two weeks.
