After selling out of their first release (a limited edition screenprint slash digital EP from 2010 indie pin-up Wild Nothing) in a matter of 10 seconds, boutique London based indie Warmest Chord return with a brand new artist for their second release.

Steven Ross aka Slow Talk hails from Oxford, Mississippi. Recorded in various dorm rooms and friends apartments, the Treehouse Politics EP is a glorious first glance at what could be a much-talked about name of 2011. Warmest Chord pin his sound down perfectly: “Staccato guitar and playful sounds cushion tales flooded with bitter acrimony. Schizophrenically changing pace from Pixie-esque sonic freakout to frenetic ‘on the brink of a nervous breakdown’ Bright Eyes.”

As with the Wild Nothing release, Warmest Chord aren’t just about the music. WC2 comes packaged with a beautiful screen-print (that’s it above) depicting a world where trees are blue and cats are green. It was designed by artist Micah Lidberg.

Two tracks from the EP (‘Fashion Sense’ & ‘O Brother’) are available to download separately but the third and fourth tracks (‘Gun Fun’ & ‘I Am No American’) are only available with purchases of the screen print.

Each purchase of the limited edition Treehouse Politics release includes an exclusive mixtape lovingly cherry-picked by Slow Talk with musical delights including Ariel Pink, Sleigh Bells, Jeremy Jay, and Vic Chesnutt. You can also get an insight into the cavernous cranium and happenings behind Slow Talk with downloadable liner notes to boot.

For prices and further information, visit the Warmest Chord store here. Alternatively, read a bit more about the release plus an interview with Slow Talk over on the Warmest Chord website.
