Sigur Rós launch new festival Norður Og Niður

08 May 2017, 16:08 | Written by Laurence Day

Sigur Rós have put an end to speculation about what their Norður Og Niður project by announcing their own festival in their native Iceland this December.

The post-rock titans will be playing Reykjavík between 27-30 December in the Harpa Concert Hall's Eldborg room. As well as four homecoming shows from Sigur Rós - their first in Iceland in five years - there will be live music, film screenings, art, dance, and more, although much of the lineup is TBA.

"This December sigur rós cordially invite you to go to hell," reads a statement about the fest. "'Norður Og Niður' means 'go north and go down', but translates more accurately as 'everything’s going to hell'. For six days across Christmas and New Year the band will set up residence in Reykjavík’s state-of-the-art venue, Harpa, to fill the shortest days with the brightest array of music, art, and performance from iceland and beyond."
