I’ve been a-crushin’ on Shine 2009′s debut Associates EP for a while now. Reminds me of everything I love about dance music – especially the dance music of my youth. See, even though the Finnish duo take plenty of influence from Sweden’s burgeoning balearic pop scene they also plant their feet firmly in the 90′s Factory/Hacienda sound. What they do is nothing new, yet at the same time, I can’t think of any act around at the moment that sound as fresh as these guys. Fans of Saint Etienne, Bummed-era Happy Mondays and The Embassy will reap dividends.
This is nothing but breezy, sensual, blissed out unadulterated joy. Dive in.
