A hotel in Seattle is getting a Sub Pop Records makeover in time for the label’s 25th anniversary, as part of a new collaboration between the two companies.
As NBC News reports, Hotel Max have equipped each room with a turntable and various vinyl offerings from the label, ranging from the Shins to Fleet Foxes to Flight of the Conchords.
Additionally, the fifth floor of the building now contains door-size images of grunge-era concert photographs taken by Charles Peterson, depicting former Sub Pop fellows Soundgarden and Nirvana.
The hotel’s PR director Kate Buska said of the project “Seattle’s music scene has always been a big part of what people come to the city for. It’s also Sub Pop’s 25th anniversary and we thought it would be great to bring that experience into the hotel.”
While Sub Pop vice-president Megan Jasper added: “The awesome thing for travelers is that they can get exposed to some cool music they might never be exposed to otherwise,” adding, “They certainly get a flavor of the city.”
