Sean Nicholas Savage previews Shine album with new single "Ain't What It Used To Be"
Sean Nicholas Savage has shared new track "Ain't What It Used To Be" as the fourth taster of his Mac DeMarco-produced album Shine.
"Ain't What It Used To Be" will appear on Shine with last month's "Streets Of Rage", as well as "Shine" and "Comet", and is teamed with a video by Andie Riekstina.
Savage says of the new release, "The title is a common punchline, people use to depict the rotting state of anything or nothing in particular. In this song however, I sing this expression with the opposite meaning, as in; "Ain’t what it used to be, and thank god for that." People are growing - "Ain’t what it used to be" I’m letting go - "Ain’t what it used to be" I’m not doing that shit anymore - "Ain’t what it used to be"."
Shine will follow Savage's 2020 album Life Is Crazy, and was recorded and produced by Mac DeMarco in LA.
He said of the album in April, "With Life is Crazy, I was delving into the overwhelming emotional experience of life and with Shine, I just wanted to dive in and be more healing."
