Sälen announce new short film Zebedy's Cult, share two songs from accompanying soundtrack EP
Sälen have announced Zebedy's Cult, a new short film, and shared two tracks from the accompanying soundtrack EP: "I'm In Love With Me Best Friend" and "I Am Champagne".
The London-based trio (Ellie Kamio, Paul Taylor, and Simon Milner) are following up their "Like A Virgin" cover which arrived late last month. "I Am Champagne" is a brand new gem with steely blips and cut-through-the-bullshit charm; "I'm In Love With Me Best Friend" is a reworked version of an early fan fave.
"Zebedy’s Cult is about a flamboyant agony uncle called Zebedy," explain Sälen. "He is on call like a drug dealer, to give advice from his rickshaw. The soundtrack deals with unrequited love and addresses the promiscuity of women in a way society sadly does not. 'Lite Behaviour' is our homage to the girls who carry condoms with them always, whilst 'Sweet Toothache' is about sucking off an ice cream man. We wanted to re-release a more polished 'I’m In Love With Me Best Friend' as the original was recorded in Simon's bedroom when Ellie wasn't fully aware of her voice yet. 'I Am Champagne' is one that parents can get behind with its message that you don't need champagne and cocaine to have fun."
Sälen play London's Oslo on 25 October. Tickets are on sale now.
