Ryley Walker cancels European tour to focus on bettering his mental health
Ryley Walker has posted to Facebook to reveal he's cancelling his European tour so he can "seek help" to better his mental health.
The singer/songwriter has cancelled his European dates in April, uploading a lengthy post to his Facebook page detailing the issues he's been battling recently.
In the statement, Walker writes, "my mental health is at an all time low, and those closest to me have determined its best I seek help instead of going on tour. I have always prided myself on work ethic and never cancelling a gig. However, my life is at risk. I desperately need to take time to seek clarity through professional help. Need to be cared for in a controlled environment. I’m gonna try to kick my substance abuse and extreme depression."
He adds, "I'm suffering. I need to protect myself and those around me from self destruction."
The announcement arrives after Walker had just finished hosting a month-long residency at Brooklyn’s Union Pool.
Walker released his The Lillywhite Sessions, and Deafman Glance albums last year.
