Ryan Adams scrapped a whole album, costing $100,000

Ryan Adams is set to release his self-titled new album in September but the record we’ll soon hear could have sounded a lot different, with the singer recently telling NME that he wasted “$100,000 or more” making an earlier record.

Adams had previously recorded with big-budget producer Glyn Johns but decided to scrap the entire LP altogether because it “was slow, adult shit”. “I’m just over that,” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, Adams added that he’s “too old to care who likes my records”, continuing: “It’s all bullshit anyway. People make judgements about records but the music is eternal. I like [Oasis album] Be Here Now. I don’t even care if Noel Gallagher doesn’t like it, because you know what? I will take two bong hits and that record will blow my mind.”
