Rosie Lowe shares empowering new single "Pharoah"

Rosie Lowe returns with the empowering "Pharoah" as the second taste of her forthcoming YU album.

Back in January, Rosie Lowe shared "Birdsong" as the lead single from her second album. Today she's followed it up with the powerful "Pharoah", which lands with visuals directed by Matilda Finn.

Inspired by Egyptian symbolism, and built from a sample from Pharoah Saunders’ "Memories of Edith Johnson", Lowe says of her new single, "I was moved by the spells from the book of the dead, which set the lyrical structure on which I built. For me, "Pharoah" is about the power we all hold, the power of our minds and how we can only be as big as we allow ourselves to be. The song became a positive mantra to myself and I find myself singing it in my weaker moments."

YU follows on from Lowe's 2016 debut record Control. She explains, "I wanted to write about my experience of sharing my life with another as a lover, friend and partner."

"Pharoah" is out now. YU lands 10 May via Wolf Tone. Rosie Lowe plays London's Rough Trade East on 10 May. Find out more.
