Robin Thicke accused of stealing another Marvin Gaye song
Last thing we heard from the whole Robin Thicke-Marvin Gaye plagiarism saga was that the late musician’s estate refused a very large out-of-court settlement from Thicke’s legal team. Now it looks like they definitely aren’t ready to settle, claiming that the star has a ”Marvin Gaye fixation”.
In a new lawsuit, obtained by the Hollywood Reporter, Gaye’s family say that as well as borrowing from “Got To Give It Up” for his “Blurred Lines”, Thicke has also ripped off “After The Dance” for his track “Love After War”.
EMI are also being brought into the matter, occupying the strange position of being publisher to both artists. Gaye’s estate feel that EMI have favoured Thicke in the case, not wanting to lose profits from the enormous success of “Blurred Lines”.
