Robert Plant brings Band of Joy to the masses in September
Robert Plant has announced a new album, the follow-up to the Grammy Award winning Raising Sand.
It’s almost a Part Two, as Band Of Joy was recorded in Nashville and co-produced by Plant and Buddy Miller, the legendary guitarist. It’ll be released on 13th September.
As well as Miller, the Band of Joy is made up of multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott, who provides the mandolin, guitar, accordian, pedal, lap steel and banjo lines, country singer-songwriter Patty Griffin who adds the main vocal foils to Plant’s lead parts, while Byron House plays bass and percussion comes from Marco Giovino.
Like Raising Sand, Band of Joy will feature covers of old tracks, including Los Lobos’s ‘Angel Dance’, Low’s ‘Silver Rider’ and ‘Monkey’ plus the Sixties soul classic ‘Falling In Love Again’ by the Kelly Brothers, to name just a few.
