Rare Beatles photos sold at auction for £30,000

Rare photos from The Beatles’ first U.S tour have been sold at auction for double their estimate.

The dozen of colour photographs, dating back to 1964, fetched £27,140 on Friday (22 March). They had originally been thought to go for around £10,000 – £15,000.

Another collection, totalling at 61 black and white shots, were bought by ”a South American gentleman currently living in Washington” for £30,680, say BBC News.

This year marks 50 years of their debut album, Please Please Me.
