Lyric-annotating website Rap Genius have announced a major expansion, broadening its content to include “poetry, literature, the Bible, political speeches, legal text, science papers” and more.
As Tech Crunch report, the site has received a massive $40 million private investment, changing its name in the process to simply Genius. The Rap Genius section will still exist, but will be a standalone sister site next to Rock Genius, Lit Genius, Sports Genius and more.
“Any text can be as layered, as allusive and cryptic, as worthy of careful exegesis as rap lyrics,” the founders say of the change.
Check out the new sites over at the Genius landing page.
